UCSD CSE Tutors
UCSD CSE TutorsA recent U.S. News and World Report article on the value of a college course-granting institution to potential students had a couple of CSE tutors in mind. At that same time, this article didn't make it clear that each CSE course offered at UCSD is an independent study and cannot be assigned as an A, B, or AP course. In addition, a newspaper headline reading 'Women More Likely Than Men to Take Counseling Courses' which was recently published in the California Collegiate Student has led some students to ask if UCSD's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) make use of one or more CSE instructors. CAPS does not provide a formal definition of how many instructors are necessary to complete CSE courses, but in some cases, there will be an instructor that teaches the required two upper division CSE courses in order to pass the course.Students should continue to contact their regular instructor of choice if they feel they need to enroll in CSE courses from other schools. UCSD Counseling and Psychological Services encourage faculty members and staff to discuss the issues associated with the CSE course with the community faculty members to ensure that CSE is taught competently and consistently.Furthermore, even if no California PSLNet or other instructor certification is required for CSE credit, a student should choose a CSE course from an instructor who use instructor-led techniques and resources, rather than teaching from a textbook management system. In addition, a CSE tutor must be skilled in the use of interactive whiteboards and phones, so it is necessary to have a close working relationship with an instructor. In addition, a primary objective of CSE is to become familiar with new technologies, such as Social Media and Technology, which are required elements of learning when taking courses such as CPA exam prerequisites. The California PSLNet for all subjects lists all course usage and information. Any course that is not listed as completed is no t complete, but is considered to be on a tentative schedule for completion. The United States Government maintains a list of accredited CSE courses, which can be obtained by visiting their website and clicking on the tab labeled 'Courses Approved by PSLNet.' Several state departments of education and departments of health services have also published information regarding course offerings. The Department of Finance, Taxation, and Economic Policy and the Department of Health Services have also published informational lists concerning course requirements and price lists. This information is usually based on the state department requirements but can be used by students to determine whether the course meets state requirements.Any course that has been approved by PSLNet, California State University, or any of the departmental departments may be used as a CSE course. A student should consult with the instructors for a review of their course listing.
